Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League took a massive dent earlier this afternoon after they were defeated at home in a five-goal thriller.
And it has left fans absolutely fuming with their stand-in skipper for the afternoon, Harry Winks.
The north Londoners succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who leapfrogged them into fifth place.
Jose Mourinho’s men twice led at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Raul Jimenez netted the winner in the 73rd minute, giving the home side a cold reminder on what it’s like to have a striker fit and firing.
Spurs are now five points from the top four following successive defeats in the Premier League.
Winks, who played the full match in central midfield, has been hammered by supporters – here’s what has been said…
The midfielder was described as “massively overrated” by one man, taking aim at the rest of the Spurs fanbase whilst others labelled him a “fraud” and “bang average.”
Winks had one of the lowest ratings of any outfield player, recording just 6.4 by SofaScore, despite managing 92% passing accuracy, four successful long balls and one tackle.
A further member of the home support even claimed that the decision to make him captain of the side told the story overall.
