Last week, Mirror Football mooted Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur as potential summer suitors for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray, amid the young winger’s concerns over limited opportunities at the King Power Stadium.
Those concerns now appear to be cleared up, with Craig Shakespeare telling reporters that the 21-year-old should get more game-time in the Premier League next season – something that appears to be linked with Riyad Mahrez’s expected departure from the east Midlands.
Which is good news for Leicester City because according to our poll, Liverpool and Tottenham fans really didn’t want their respective clubs shelling out too much for the England U21, who represented his country in this summer’s European Championship.
Indeed, we asked Spurs and Reds supporters last week how much they thought Gray was worth and whilst a few were prepared to take a slightly more expensive punt, 68% of those who voted rated him at £20million or lower.
Perhaps opinions will change by next summer, should Shakespeare’s promise of more first team football come into fruition.
