The New Year is upon us.
For some people that means a fresh start and a new outlook, but every football fan knows that the opening of the January transfer window is the most important thing at this time of year.
At Leeds United, that’s no different, and despite Victor Orta saying that Leeds are in for a quiet transfer window, Phil Hay has now claimed that Leeds will be looking to strengthen three positions this winter.

Indeed a report in The Athletic states that the Whites could be in for a goalkeeper, a winger and a striker over the coming month.
However, it has to be said that looking at a goalkeeper is rather foolish.
Kiko Casilla might be staring a ban in the face for racial abuse, but Illan Meslier is ready and waiting to replace him between the sticks. Therefore, signing a third-choice goalkeeper at this point would be rather pointless.
In the unlikely event that Meslier picks up an injury or a suspension during the time Casilla is banned, Leeds should be looking to call upon Will Huffer or Kamil Miazek rather than signing a temporary third-choice as a contingency option.
Huffer has previously been described as a goalkeeper ready for more senior football, while Miazek seems to be in the perfect mould for Bielsa. Joe Urquhart once wrote that he ‘possesses a good reading of the game and is willing to play with the ball at his feet.’
Leeds shouldn’t be wasting any time or money on bringing in a new goalkeeper when they already have two perfectly good options to play back up to Meslier.
Meanwhile, Phil Hay has confirmed that Leeds won’t be strengthening one position this January.
