According to a report by Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Sunderland are in talks with Benfica over the sale of midfielder Didier Ndong.
What’s the word, then?
Well, A Bola report that after missing out on the signings of Ramires and Gabriel this summer, the Portuguese giants have switched their attentions to the out-of-favour Black Cats man.
A Bola report that the Eagles have already made contact with the League One outfit over a potential deal for the Gabon international, with Jack Ross keen to offload the 24-year-old who has been omitted from proceedings during the start of their domestic campaign.
The Wearside outfit spent a club-record upfront fee of £13.6m to bring the African ace to the Stadium of Light in 2016, scoring one goal in 54 appearances before he spent the second-half of last season on loan at Premier League Watford – where he failed to earn a permanent move after failing to make a single appearance.

How pleased will Sunderland be to get rid?
They will be delighted.
It has been clear for some time in the Black Cats’ recent demise that the 24-year-old has been a player that hasn’t really been committed to the cause, and Ross will be desperate to offload him and his reported £30,000-a-week wages before August 31.
Getting rid of Ndong could also help the Scottish manager bring in another loan signing or two before the window closes, as he looks to take the club back to the Championship at the first time of asking following a positive start to the season.
