A lot of Rangers fans were applauding the club’s social media team after a tweet that was posted about Alfredo Morelos’ winning goal on Boxing Day.
The Light Blues’ official Twitter account @RangersFC posted a video of the Colombian’s match-winning moment against Kilmarnock with check boxes alongside the words ‘Onside’, ‘Buffalo’, ‘Goal’ and ‘Three Points’.
The first of those may have been a veiled riposte towards Kilmarnock supporter Gordon Sawers on Twitter (@gordon_sawers), who in a series of strongly-worded tweets accused the assistant referee of “bottling” the decision not to flag for a goal he felt was “110% offside” and angrily lambasted the “cheating corrupt officials” after the match.
Sawers had previously taken a swipe at some Rangers fans who had goaded him over his team’s elimination from the Europa League qualifiers last summer. [via The Scottish Sun]
Morelos came off the bench at Ibrox on Thursday to score the only goal of Rangers’ 1-0 win (as per Sky Sports), netting his 28th of the season in all competitions.
These ‘Gers fans on Twitter hugely enjoyed the club’s tweet about his match-winning goal, with some making reference to Sawers’ fury over the incident:
