Newcastle United have confirmed that they have handed a final written warning to striker Nile Ranger over his attitude towards training.
The 21-year-old has been persistently late and disinterested in sessions and the club’s hierarchy have had enough of his approach.
Ranger won the ‘Wor Jackie’ award in 2008, produced goals and assists in the Toon’s season in the Championship and illustrated the ability he clearly possesses.
But despite the player having four years remaining on his contract, the Newcastle coaching staff have been left furious with the lack of application from the striker.
The 6ft 2in forward even turned up late to the disciplinary meeting that was set up to discuss his behaviour.
His manager Alan Pardew went on to tell Sky Sports: “This guy is late so often, it is unbelievable. He’s still at this football club and we’re still trying to do something with him.”
The former England U19 star has not played competitive football since featuring for Sheffield Wednesday in their victory over Wycombe last season, and has showed little desire to force his way back into the first team.
Nile Ranger is now causing headlines for the wrong reasons, after being fined for homophobic comments on twitter earlier this year, and being arrested for criminal damage in Enfield a month yesterday.
It is believed there is no way back for the player now, despite a loan move back to Sheffield Wednesday falling through, due to a failure to agree personal terms.
