Sport finance expert Rob Wilson believes they could be banished from the English top-flight straight away, though they could compromise by accepting a points deduction.

There have been calls for City to be handed a massive penalty after Everton and Nottingham Forest were both deducted points this season. Everton had an initial 10-point deduction reduced to six, while Forest were docked four after being found guilty of a breach of regulations.
WHAT ROB WILSON SAID
Wilson told : "There is technically no limit to the punishment Manchester City could face, they could look to Saracens in rugby union and see 30 points and an immediate relegation. However, I cannot envisage the Premier League winning a case against Man City that would relegate them, they might agree on a 20-point deduction and could still end up qualifying for the Champions League."

City's case will not be heard until later this year and it is expected there will be a long wait before a ruling is finally made. The reigning European champions will likely appeal against a punishment if they are found guilty.
